SVDP/Human Concerns/Outreach

The Human Concerns Committee discerns the needs of persons in the parish and the wider LaPaz Catholic Community, especially the poor, and identifies resources to meet those needs enlisting the active cooperation of parish members through the efforts of St. Vincent De Paul Society. This committee fulfills the social justice dimension of scripture and our Church tradition, acknowledging that every Christian is called to service and to work for justice, including Respect for Life efforts.
No specific parish budget is available for this ministry; we rely on the efforts of SVDP Society, as well as donations received specifically in envelopes marked "Human Concerns" or SVDP which is in turn given to SVDP Society. Sacred Heart Parish holds a once-a-month second collection on every first Sunday of the month; the money goes directly to SVDP society here at Sacred Heart Parish to fulfill the Corporal Works of Mercy of the Church. The Human Concerns Committee at SVDP meets on the second Tuesdays of the month. For more information about SVDP please call the Parish Office at 928-669-2502 or the SVDP Society building at 928-669-2523. Or email [email protected]
